Roland founded Youth Lifeline America in 1999 to assist in the nation's efforts to educate and inspire youth.
Growing up in a typical "inner-city" environment in Rochester, New York, Roland has seen first hand the need for positive mentorship and creative educational opportunities for America's youth population.
Through Youth Lifeline America, Roland has created life changing programs that synergistically integrate sports, entertainment, financial literacy, goal achievement strategies, leadership, nutrition, technology, and other educational life skills to help youth succeed.
Roland has enjoyed great success during his football career. Roland was selected in the 1998 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams and earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors during his first season. A three-year starter, Roland went on to win Super Bowl XXXIV in the thrilling Rams victory over the Tennessee Titans. Since his Super Bowl victory, Roland has played for the Oakland Raiders, where he won the American Football Conference Championship in 2003 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Being one of the premier blocking tight ends in the NFL, Roland is known as one of the most positive and energetic athletes in professional sports.
Roland has also received numerous awards during his career that include the prestigious NFL Unsung Hero Award, Oakland Raiders Man of the Year Award (twice), the Press Radio Club Pro Athlete of the Year Award, and has been a multi-year finalist for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. Roland has also received a host of recognition from an array of youth serving organizations and community leaders.
Roland has a BA in Speech Communications with a minor in Management from Syracuse University. Roland has also completed the prestigious Executive Educational Program from Wharton Business School. He is currently completing his Master's Degree in Public Relations from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Roland is married to wife, Rona, and has two children, Justice and Trustin.
